Apparently a lot of my non-anime watching friends have been attracted to tune into channel 126 lately. The joy.

It doesn’t help that along with Otakumag, Shoujo Beat was also cancelled June/July last year… maybe a bit of late news by now, but it saddens me to think that anime/manga is one of the first things enterprises drop when financials look threatened. Would like to put it out there that it is not a niche market, it is a potentially growing one! Respect our love for ANIME!!! *RAWR*

I know, man! It’s turning into a reality TV nightmare! And it’s even worse than MTV…these shows are just plain trashy. I thought Animax was primarily a channel to air anime…I’m not saying that they can’t do reality shows, as like you said, Takeshi’s Castle and Ninja Warrior are fine and dandy but the others…what on earth do they have to do with Animax? I mean, I’m wondering who their target market is or better yet, what kind of “image” does it give to the channel and those people who are associated with watching anime on it?

I agree… as the name suggest “Animax” you would expect a channel fulled with Anime not fulled with teen romance american crap. We want Anime! The latest Anime shows were pretty good ( Bleach & Death note) but they don’t even finish Bleach, they get up to ep 52 and then… back to ep 1 fan fucking tastick, I spent all this time to only see a quarter of the bloody show.
Animax must be smocking toilet duck because their timing with shows couldn’t be worse. All the Anime shows are past midnight and the day is filled up with useless crap like bromance and next ect…
Redeem your self Animax by killing the fool who decided that anime fans should be ‘treated’ to such shit as bormance and next and all other non anime shows.

Carry on with bleach past ep 52! delete all non anime shows.
Get new anime shows on air because all other shows are stale. Animax could have a Anime movie night every Saturday/Sunday. Shows are endless eg Naruto, Gintama, Blue Gender, Gun Grave, Cowboy Bebop… the list goes on forever. Don’t give Copyright excuses either because if you can’t get the shows then you might as well go off the air.

I agree… I can’t say I watched much Animax since it started… but the first few shows, like you said, were at least anime but we’ve seen most of them. Then later I tried watching it again and for some odd reason they would have a anime with the black border… o_O… so the anime isn’t even fullscreen? What? Were they broadcasting downloaded eps or something?
The final nail in the coffin for me was the adverts on billboards about “ANIMAX on channel 126. Come watch Ninja Warriors”. It’s ANIMax… just get more good anime… Where’s Ranma? Where’s Pokemon? (they could show Pokemon again from 15:00 for the children who come back from school) For late night shows they could show stuff like BGC, Blue gender, Gunsmith cats, etc…

Hearing about the endless eight arc and what has been happening… I have not even been bothered to have a look at the new season of Haruhi.
Most posts I’ve read never explained anything about the arc or story. The general consensus was that it’s all a load of… yeah…

I’ll be looking forward to a full review from you Fox.

(BTW… just for a little fun. I also read an interesting article and your picture in the post was also used there. There is a strange likeness of characters in Haruhi and K-On!. What does it say about anime that you can make a list of nearly 150 items and they are true to the point that many anime fans have seen them in one or more anime series/movies.

This list is pretty much the exact reason I stopped enjoying anime so much. There is very little in the way of anything original.

Pretty good AMV.Don’t see it as one that will be listened to for more then a few days or so… but still pretty good.

Feels more like a connoisseurs AMV. The one where you should appreciate the video/story/song as a whole. Not like most new AMV’s where it’s mostly just a rocking tune and loaded with random action scene’s.

I can see full well why it’s on AMV.org’s list. :3

Really does suck to hear that Otakumag is closing down. I already know I’m going to mis the otaku roadtrip very much. It wasn’t huge (the 3″rooms” they held it in were a little small) but it was still heap loads of fun.
I really do wish that the mag will stay alive. There has to be some sponsor out there who can help. Someone who understands the need SA has for this wonderful publication.
I’ll subscribe asap. I dearly hope that they reach the 500 mark… no… I dearly hope they reach the 1000 mark. There surly are many Otaku out there.

The about tab currently points back to the blog home page since I don’t have an About page at the moment – and I’m not inclined to add one to the blog. Once I have the time to actually dig into the code I’ll most likely remove the tab.

Also, due to a combination of work and year-end exams, I haven’t been able to devote a lot of time to the site lately – once my exams are finished I’ll once again be able to search around for relevant resources, along with posting more regularly.

I predicted this would happen from the start, but then I got attacked by the rabid local weeboo’s. This channel is going no where and that’s not my opinion but fact.

Re-running shows for almost a year is totally unacceptable no matter how you look at it and the excuse of “if you missed a episode you can watch it again later” is old.

The way in what they order and broadcast episodes are highly annoying and should be looked at.

And lets not forget all the screw ups Animax has made in broadcasting shows and episodes. The latest being Black Lagoon 2nd Season with no subs. *Great work Animax*

Animax is now doing more harm than good killing good shows with its endless re-runs.

I’ve seen this happen on a number of occasions, where a manga aimed at an older audience has an anime adaptation that is changed to suit a younger and wider audience as well.

One notable example I can pull off the top of my head would be Negima – the manga was rated 16+ – while the anime … I think the rating was 13+, but it would’ve suited a 10 year old audience as well

I cried while reading this manga, it was the most unexpected thing about Akito. About how everyone turns out to be… how sad it was to BE separated instead of being happy. ^_^;;
Aww~~ Anyways, brings back good memories. The Anime is more suited for younger viewers while the manga is based on an audience 14+ ? @_@;;
