Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (it’s a mouthful) is a psychological thriller set in a small little known village – a village with many, many mysteries and secrets. Maebara Keiichi is a new transfer student, and he gets the full effect.

The series is based on a game, and also has two sequels, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai, and Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei.
